April 6th Night Walk

Another successful night walk experience at Crews Lake Wilderness Park – 124 people showed up! We took two batches of around 60 people each on a one mile, one hour hike around the park.

Pavilion 2 is where we gathered, which worked out really well because it has lights which attracted a lot of beetles and things to look at while we waited for the start time. The children also seemed to really enjoy the collection of fluorescent items.

We heard frogs and a pair of barred owls, encountered fireflies (lightning bugs), and saw wolf spiders, orb weavers, flat-backed millipedes, and scorpions, along with southern toads and a bunny in the baseball field. And, there was a very large, unidentified spanworm.
